Young Birds

• 4 days before weaning:
  Experience has shown that it is best to vaccinate squabs against paramyxovirus infection with chevivac-P200 while they are still in the nest.
  At first signs of Young Bird Sickness: immediate treatment with adenosan (see treatment plan Young Bird Sickness).
• From weaning:
  To stimulate natural resistance and help squabs cope better with the retardation of development that generally occurs after weaning, they are given livimun^®, for 5 days, followed by vitin^® for 1 day.

• During the growth period:
  To prevent skeletal disorders (e.g. malformation of the sternum) and promote development, squabs are given miral and vitin^®.

• Week 6 of life:
  Treatment with chloramphenicol-N begins around 20 days after paramyxovirus vaccination.
• Week 7 of life:
  11 days later, protective vaccination against salmonellosis takes place.
  An interval of at least 4 weeks should be left between vaccination against paramyxovirosis and salmonellosis.
• Around the 9th week of life:
  Precautionary deworming with ascapilla^®+ (see treatment plan worm infestation) should only be carried out if there is evidence of worm infestation. This is the last possible opportunity before the main flight feathers are renewed (beware of possible damage to feathers).
  
  After the first free flights:
  In lofts where Young Bird Sickness occurred in the preceding year, a treatment with adenosan, over 3 days, is recommended before starting a preventive treatment against trichomonas with chevi-col^®+ (see treatment plan Trichomoniasis).
  This measure is important in order to prevent the secondary disorders that may possibly follow a trichomona infestation.
• Preparation for young pigeon flights:
  The following health checks should be performed in good time before young pigeon flights:
  Examination of individual birds by the veterinarian.
  Smears: crop, cloaca.
  Examination of faecal samples: Collect droppings both in the morning and evening for 3 days.
  If disease is established, follow the treatment plan.
  Eliminate possible disease factors.
  
  Special advice:
  If vaccination against paramyxovirus cannot be carried out at the age of 21 days, but at a later stage, a preventive treatment with adenosan is recommended, starting 3 days before vaccination until 4 days after vaccination.
• At the end of young pigeon flights:
  In areas at risk from pigeon pox, birds should be vaccinated.
